Nearly every type of pelvic health condition is negatively affected by issues with your bowel.

Constipation can contribute to pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, low back pain, urinary or bowel leakage and urinary urge (desperate need to have a pee).

Any straining to go is really unhelpful, especially if there is any pelvic organ prolapse - this regular bearing down on the pelvic organs can worsen a prolapse. If you strain to go, are not fully emptying your bowel or pass pellets - this is not good for your pelvic health!

Failure to get on top of prolapse symptoms or urinary leaking may well be as simple as better bowel management. Here are some top tips to make sure you go regularly, with ease....!

*Aim to drink around 2 litres is water every day (not before or during meals)

*Move more! Aim for a brisk walk each day

*Eat slowly, and chew your food well

*Add dietary fibre to soups, salads and porridge in the form of Flaxseed or linseed seeds. *New Mum too busy to cook a nutritious meal? Try two slices of brown toast with baked beans for a good fibre dose!

*Increase probiotics and prebiotics eg fermented foods, yoghurt
